Guts, heart and desire along with no little ability, words and phrases used to describe our under 21 hurlers this year and now the word WINNERS can be added to that list!
Another huge battle took place again today in Holycross in the County final replay and not for the first time this year our lads met the challenge head on and deservedly came out the the right side of a 0-18 to 0-15 victory v Templederry Ballinahinch.
In a tough tight first half a turning point came when corner forward Keane Hayes sprinted the length of the field to stand between the sticks and save a Templederry penalty leaving us a point up at the break.
With the game in the melting pot coming down the home straight the returning Timmy Dunne ( only off the plane since yesterday morning) entered the fray and in fairy tale fashion he snapped two successive puck outs, pointing one and earning a free from the other to edge us in front.
It was a lead we never relinquished and when Fionn Cleary kicked into gear with 2 late points the fairy tale season was complete and we were crowned county champions.
Well done to the whole panel and the management team of Jim Rafter, Martin Gleeson, Willie Coleman, Tommy Duggan and TJ "the general" Mockler
