U21 hurling

Not for the first time this year our under 21s provided us with huge entertainment. In a classic encounter with Templederry/Ballinahinch on Sunday the teams could not be separated even after extra time in the County B final in Holycross. A slow start saw us trail by 6 after 20 minutes but the switch of Aidan Ryan to the sweeper role helped us get a foothold in the game and when Karl Collins collected a Gearoid Fahey pass and crashed a low shot to the corner of the Templederry/Ballinahinch net we were right back in the game. We headed for the break 2 points behind but put in a huge 2nd half drawing level in the closing stages, both teams had chances to clinch it but extra time was needed. The sea saw nature of the game continued as we lead by 2 points at one stage but trailed by one with time up before Keane Hayes rounded his man and was hauled down, Ronan Teehan pointed the resultant free and shortly afterwards the full time whistle was blown leaving everyone eager for more of the same in the replay. So it's back to Holycross next Sunday at 1:15 for another battle. Well done to all involved ye can be hugely proud of your performance.
