U15 Hurling Feile / U15 football

U15 Hurling Feile

Our under 15 hurlers travelled to Ballina on Saturday last to take on the home side and also Roscrea in our group of the feile. After 2 close battles we unfortunately narrowly came out the wrong side of the result on both occasions. Roscrea 1-03 Gortnahoe 0-05. Ballina 3-06 Gortnahoe 0-09. Well done to all involved.

U15 football.

We play Drom & Inch in a home fixture next Thursday evening. We beat them narrowly away in the first round and a home win will see us progress to the latter stages of the competition.

U17 hurling

Our Under 17s played Mullinahone in a challenge on Monday last in preparation for the upcoming county league. We play Upperchurch Drombane away in round 1, we await details on this fixture

Junior hurling

We took on Clonakenny in the re fixed round 1 Junior league game at 12 noon on Easter Monday last and came away with the points after a hard fought victory over a resilient Clonakenny outfit. The 0-19 to 0-14 victory now qualifies us for the final with one game to spare. We play our final group game versus the team we will meet in the final, that game will be against Moyne Templetouhy next Saturday night at 6:30pm in Gortnahoe

Premier Intermediate hurling

We took on Templederry Kenyons In Round 3 of the County League last Saturday at 6pm in Gortnahoe, 2 quick fire goals from the away side mid way through the first half seen them open a lead we were always chasing there after, we played well against a strong Tenmplederry side who will complete in Dan Breen this year but came out the wrong side of a 3-18 to 1-15 score line. Round 4 will be on in 2 weeks time

Damien Corbett stars for Tipp Minors

Well done to Damien Corbett who again starred for the Tipp Minors v Tuesday last Tuesday in the Munster Championship, Damien notched 0-9 which included scores from play & frees. A brilliant all round performance which we are all very proud of.

Tipp have now qualified for the Munster semi final as a result.

Best of luck to Lorcan Bourke

Best wishes to Lorcan Bourke who will line out with the Tipp under 15 hurlers next weekend in the Arrabawn Co op tournament. Lorcan has been lining out mid field in recent challenge games. The very best of lorcan from all at Gortnahoe Glengoole GAA Club

Camogie News

U 12s

U12 had an impressive win against Fethard in a challenge match last Wednesday evening in Gortnahoe. The girls will take part in a blitz next weekend, details to follow. Training continues on Wednesday eve at 7.30pm in preparation for the blitz.

Under 16s

Our U16 team are being badly hit with injuries and sickness at the moment and had to withdraw from Wednesday game against Templemore. We continue to train this Wednesday evening to prepare for the games ahead.

Juniors

Our Junior girls welcomed Portroe to Gortnahoe on Friday night but were unfortunate to lose on the night, training continues with great numbers.

Our U14 girls had a great win on Friday evening in Cashel following on from a great win in Carrick on Suir the week before. Our next game is on Thursday evening 21st April away to St Rita’s in Fethard

Under 15s

U15 Feile – the girls took part in Feile on Easter Monday with an early start and our first match at 10.00a.m. against an extremely strong Slieve Phelim team where we took a bad beating, our second game was against St Pat’s from Drangan in a much more evenly matched game and we were unfortunate not to draw or even win and this was quickly followed by our third game against Cahir which again was very evenly matched and competitive and we barely lost. We had a very young team as most girls were only 13 years of age and this was an U15 competition and Slieve Phelim went on to win the Division C final later in the day in Dr Morris Park. All bar one of the girls will be eligible to play at U15 level again next year so they will have learned a lot from their first Feile and hopefully we can expect great things next year.

Training continues for U8s and U10s with great numbers in attendance.
